This Forum runs on Discusware V4 and a standard Tables4 skin is applied. There were a couple of reasons for chosing this style, not the least of which were that ShopBotters are familiar with this style, and that I have personally used this software for a long time on other fora. It will be much easier for me to "train" moderators in this format.

Costs? I have stuck this Forum onto one of my existing websites where I have a lot of spare capacity. If the costs become significant, the plan is to allow some advertising in place of those pics at the top now. (I would be curious to hear from potential advertisers)

Pictures? The picture size limit has been set to 400x400 pixel and 100kB file size. The moderators are expected to help place pictures if someone has some difficulty. My idea is to have a rather picture intensive site.

User Profiles: The profiles are hidden from well-behaved crawlers like Yahoo & Google. Info posted on your profile will not be found via Yahoo and Google. At the bottom of the profile is a Private Message facility - there is no need to show your mail address here.

This Forum also has "E-mail Notification" enabled. By editing your profile you can chose to keep an eye on certain threads, or to receive a mail when someone posts in a thread after you. Will investigate replies by e-mail if enough interest

Unfortunately, an open forum does attract spamming machines from time to time. Below you can see what greeted me this morning. Therefore, this forum has mostly been restricted to registered posters. The "test area" is still public.

Gerald
He likes this Forum much more than the Shopbot Forum.
Only a couple of posts there!!
Unless they have already been deleted, which I doubt, seeing the time.
Any idea from whence they came?

..........Mike

Another spamming engine (www.threadbomb.com) hit the last open thread last night. All threads now need registration before posting.

Gerald, I have always wanted to click on the thumbnails at the top of the pages and go to a larger view. Is there any way to incorporate this feature into your site, or have these pictures on another page, so they could be enlarged?
