Gerald_D please move if I've posted in the wrong spot

Hey Doc Tanner,
I am planning on using the same rack and pinion as you have and had a few questions.
just wanted to make sure you were still happy with the speed and quality of cut or would
you change anything. Do you have any numbers on cut speed? Any pics on quality?
Am I right to assume the 35 tooth are for x & y axis and 20 tooth for the Z? are these the
part #'s you ended up using?

YSS2020 for 20 tooth www.daltonbearing.com
YSS2035 for 35 tooth same
BF200011 for the rack www.stdsteel.com

anyway sorry for all the questions I just want to get it right first time around.

Thank you for your time.

Hey David,
Those are the exact numbers I used. with the 7.2 gear reduction.
I thought one day I might try playing with the gearing but everything works quite well.
I have experienced no problems at all.
The quality of cut seems to be more dependent on feed speed, bit quality and hold down.
To be honest I haven't tried to cut anything over 400 ipm.
Will try to get pics soon.
