Welcome Hasse,
Looks like you are off to a great start. Keep the pictures coming as you finish your beast. :)

Gerald D Fri 25 January 2008 14:47

Hi Hasse

It must be winter in Sweden - your poor MechMate is frozen! :)

gmessler Fri 25 January 2008 21:27

Very nice ice sculpture Hasse.:) Been lurking and building without a word:p.....Glad you decided to share. :D

Gerald D Fri 25 January 2008 22:28

Hasse, could you show more details on how your table is bolted together? It looks very neat.

sailfl Sat 26 January 2008 04:09

Hasse,

Nice looking machine. Logo in solid blue.

From your photo it does not appear that you have attached the rail? Yes, how did you bolt it together!

DMS Sat 26 January 2008 04:26

It seems that Garage is the obvious birth place for most MM's :)
Nice work Hasse.

sailfl Sat 03 January 2009 05:32

Hasse,

What is the bottle for?

Machnie looks great.

Nikonauts Sat 03 January 2009 06:09

wow, 15-16 months of construction.

white looks good... and the sweedish blue on the logo. nice!

what kind of reduction are you using?

Gerald D Sat 03 January 2009 07:27

Hi Hasse, it is still dark outside that window - how far north are you?

Your MM looks like it belongs in a hospital surgery - nothing wrong with that! Looking forward to hearing about its first cuts. :)

J.R. Hatcher Sat 03 January 2009 07:57

From what looks like sawdust on the far rail and cuts in the spoil board, I would say with a few logos this man needs a serial #????? Am I right :p or wrong :(?

Gerald D Sat 03 January 2009 08:13

Nice spotting JR . . . . and there is a logo on the side of the Y-car! He gets #14

javeria Sat 03 January 2009 08:27

Hasse - would be interested in knowing more about the gear reductions on your steppers.

Thank you all
The bottle is for the modified gasspring, with a bicycle pump i can adjust the
gasspring to the weight of the spindle

Added by Gerald:

Modifying a gas spring is a dangerous experiment!

A typical gas spring holding 15kg on its 8mm rod is charged to 30 bars (400psi) Do not saw it open to see what is inside!

The reduction is made of gear wheels from angle grinders.

Hello Gerald
The sun gets up 9,05 down 14,47 its dark allright
Soderhamn is 250 km north of Stockholm ,and yes i have made a testrun
without e stops :o but it is not recommendable your helpless if somethings go wrong i learnt the hard way.
Thanks for #14

Hasse:)

Gerald D Sat 03 January 2009 19:40

That is some VERY clever stuff!

Are you happy with the overall performance of those Nema 23 steppers? (What is the gear ratio?)

javeria Sat 03 January 2009 21:24

OK Hassee - since we already see those gears working for you - I am presuming you have thought over the backlash issue - let us know more on how you have countered it -

when I hold a grinder in hand and turn the wheel I can see a considerable amount of backlash - so I am a bit eager to know more on these gearboxes - also can you share the design of these -

Frozen - 16 C outside

Hello Gerald , Irfan
Yes its dangerous i used a broken gasspring with no pressure in it and
replaced the piston in the cylinder with one with a rubber o-ring
the cylinder is 18 mm that makes 6 bars to hold 15 kg
The motors and gearboxes is used only 10 min so i cant say if they vork well
the gear ratio is 3:1 hopefully i will make some dust tomorrow, sorry about my English i hope you understand
