On behalf of Tony: IN THE ATTACHED PHOTOS I ADDED 2 BRIGHT LOW VOLTAGE KITCHEN UNDER CABINET PUCK LIGHTS TO THE UNDER SIDE OF THE GANTRY. I INSTALLED THEM ON EACH SIDE OF THE ROUTER. PURPOSELY, THEY WERE PLACED SO THE ROUTER CASTS A SHADOW ON THE ROUTER TOOL POINT. THIS KEEPS THE LIGHT FROM OVER POWERING THE LASER CROSS HAIRS. I PLAN TO INSTALL SWITCHABLE LEDs IN THE CLEAR DUST SHOE TO ILLUMINATE THE CUTTING POINT UPON DEMAND.

Gerald, Thanks for the help. Until this morning, when I read Ted's blog, I was totally oblivious to the fact that Shopbot had made a belt-drive that is almost a twin of the one that I make. Ted had mentioned in an email to me that they had tried a belt-driven gearbox on early machines, but then decided to use the Oriental Motors with integral gearboxes instead. |
