Can more people help to fill in the gaps please... ShopBot has used:
Pre-2000.......PK266 belt reduction..........? Mid-2000 the PRT was launched with Oriental Motor Vexta PK299-01AA motors directly driving 20-24tooth pinions. Feb-2001 the PRT changed to geared motors from Oriental Motor Vexta geared PK296-SG motors(Gear ratio was first 7.2:1 with 30 tooth pinion, then 3.6:1 with 25 tooth pinion). ShopBot had special versions made for them with lower backlash gears and a good wire anchor - part no. A6497-9412KTG April-2004 the ShopBot PRT Alpha was launched with the Oriental Motor AlphaStep AS911 directly driving 20 tooth pinions. ShopSabre? Techno-Isel? E-Z Router? Practical CNC? Others?

The late prt benchtop has 20 tooth pinions, which I see as a plus. I have no gantry machine to compare with, but with sharp cutters and care the finish is pdg. R. |

My early 2001 PRT has Oriental Motor Vexta geared PK296-SG motors, gear ratio 7.2:1 , .25" steps (all 4 motors), with 30 tooth pinion on X and Y. The Z axis has 25 tooth as near as I can tell. My machine setup seems less common and I don't know the ryhme or reason as to what it all really means. |
