New Serial Numbers #102 and #103 - Kikinda & Novi Sad, Serbia

First of all I want to introduce myself, my name is Marko and I am from Kikinda, Serbia. For a while, I'm member of this forum, but not very active, only in reading threads.
Approximately half year ago, my friend Vlada and I, started to build two mechmates. There was few months of hard work, but there was results also!
On this link, you can see how was work in progress:
http://photobucket.com/MarkoVladaMM

there are pictures, how these machines look this days. first is mine, and second is Vlada's :

and there is some work that i have done with my MM:

holder for motorcycle licence plate

and there is a video file

And one more thing, I want to thank my friend Danilo M. from Novi Sad for all help and suggestions during the work!!!

Excellent work - pretty machines!
I personally like the hard piped air line on along the x-axis of the machine.

Well done indeed!

You gotta love having a 4x8 Mill. Is that 1/2 inch aluminum ? How long did it take to cut that? Also are any of those parts you cut steel?

For now, my MM is only cutting. Vlada is waiting gears and drivers. It can be two numbers or two in one They are as twins, but only different clothing!

All parts that I cut was from aluminum, only steel part that i cut was head from screw, which suddenly appeared on cutting way
alu for reductions was 10mm (~0.4inch), and cutting was very long because I put pass depth 0,3mm (~0.012inch).

Hi Marko and Vlada

Nice machines so congratulations.
.3mm cut depth is safe on alloy so a wise starting point.
Love the compressed air on the machine, great for both a vacuum generator and a direct nozzle to blow away swarf.
The little Mechmate stickers on the rails make them look like a shop bought item !

Regards
Ross

I was not active on the forum for a while, but there was a lot of progress!
Both machines got inductive sensors for limit switches, relay board for limit switches and relay board to isolate signals of emergency button, touch probe and other buttons on machine. Next thing was 2,2kw water cooled chinese spindle and VFD. I'll post some pictures later.
here are few pictures of work that i done:

plexi work:
first i tried some engraving

bathroom ceiling lamp

plexiglass sign board

body for bass guitar from oak, first work was with foam for testing

spindle with round-over router bit for edge

and there was one more work, for one small company. I made 2 axes cnc foam machine with working area 1200x550mm. foam is cutting with hot wire. all part is made with mechmate.
because they have only two steppers and drivers, i must link two towers, two screws, with chain
there are pic.:

Hello again Marko !

Thank you for your answer. I am contacting with Danilom for my laser cuts kit.

I am also looking for choosing my motors, controller, driver and power. It's difficult to fix a choice because there is many products available on the market with various technical aspects.
Which components did you chose ? Are you satisfy ? Do you have some slightly rough edges of your cuts ?

Which ratio are your gearbox ?

Thank you for your help,

Hardouin

Thanks for numbers! It can be Marko 102, Vlada 103.
working area is 2650x1400mm
My components combination:
steppers nema23 3NM and 3A unipolar wiring, 4,2A parallel bipolar wiring. Drivers are homemade unipolar microstep driver (1/16 maximum). nema 23 is very weak with unipolar drivers, and i must go to bipolar option.
better choice is nema 34 steppers with low inductance and good holding torque, and chinese bipolar drivers from ebay (24-80V/7.8A/256 Microstep DM860), or best geckodrive. I think that chinese driver has best ratio price/quality.
gearbox ratio is 3:1
