Buy beer, cooldrinks and snacks and invite a football team for a "turning-over" party?

That is an option... a good one I may say.

I just checked the floor dimension, may have to place the beam right nest to a wall to have enough spce to turn... but if I have a football team at that time, can haul the whole table out in the open, do the turn over & haul back to position.

Can do without those Yoga exercise building the table in final position. & I really can't do overhead weld.

hmmmmm....

Thanks clause for your kind word.

More progress pix.

The precision equipment for the table fitting.
Equipment for setting up tabel frame.jpg

Aligned side frame, side to side is 2260mm & I happened to get the diagenol within 1mm
Alighened Leg Frame.jpg

Dry fitted bearer,
Table bearer dry fit.jpg
The 8 bearer on the right will house the 4' x 8' spoil board. The remaining 1480 on the left I am planning for dedicated matel machining where it will have coolent running & if required, enogh for a 3'x6' spoilboard to extend the 4'x8' working area.
The last channel will set up for vertical mount parts.
Please comment freely on my plan.

When you weld the cross-bearers, weld only the 38mm tip before you turn the table over. After turning over, weld only the other 38mm.

Do not be tempted to make more welds!

Oh, please also remember the diagonal braces.

Let me see if I understand this. in my own weird English
Procedure
1) place bearer in position.
2) spot weld om corners of bearer to the main beam, 2 spos per sides.
3) weld the end of bearer on to the beam, between the spot welds
4) flip table over,
5) Get someone who can do overhead welding to weld the other end of the of the bearer onto the second beam between the spot weld.

While the table is upside down, make all the A welds (do not make welds A to B along the sides). Turn the table over and make welds B. Finished.

Edit: Sorry, did not see your earlier post while I sketched.

Thousand thanks. will do exactly that.

I will fit the cross braces after welding the table bearer in this position. as I was expecting distortion & misfit.

That will be tommorrow...

Nothing beat having the feel of the actual dimension after dry fitting the table.

Took this opportunity to give a last minute thought over the working area allocation... This is what I came out last night while turning in bed...

Working area layout.jpg

The work is loaded from the right,
there are 50mm pace for vertical mounting for making joints. will this be too little for most case?
Then there is the usual usual 4'x8' working area
Then there is a 3'x6' area for future use
And reserve for A-axis where the table bearer will not be attach at this moment.

Please do comment freely before I weld the cross bearer up, your expert experience are highly appreciated.

You are making it very big and hard to reach areas by leaning across the table.

Why use 1870 as a width outside the channels if your working space (boards) are 1220? I would go for 1650 over channels:

Earlier consideration is to feed the 915x1830 on the table lenght wise... but I admit I was greedy & too gangho...

Another advise needed, I knowing myself too well that A-axis will come some day... I am considering to leave the last bearer on the left, will this affect the structural integrity?

Ken,

looking at your photograph I see that your main X axis Beams have the web of the beam facing out, according to the drawings the web should be facing into the machine.
Not sure if you have done this deliberatatly or not ??

Cheers
Tony.

Sorry, I don't understand the question.

If your beams face out, your future dust collector foot must be limited in width.

Now this feels better... Thanks Gerald.
Final width of table.jpg

The floor in this part of the shop is not as flat as the previous position, you can see the sides lean into the center, checked with a spirit level & the buble is on different side of the limit lines... need some work on it tommorow when its brighter...

Will chop the bearer to size tomorrow, now is the time I wish I have a metal cutting saw like the one Tony has...

We originally got a 48" [1220mm] wide ShopBot because they refused to go wider. Our standard boards are 2750 x 1830, which meant that a half sheet 1375 could not fit. So we first increased from 1220 to 1375mm. Just check your board sizes carefully before you make a final decision.....the difference between 1220 and 1375 was very important in our country.

Ken,

Should not be too much of a problem just swap them over and that should fix things up.

Cheers

Thanks Tony your are the one who save me from committing another major mistake.

Its great to have you guys watching over while I racklessly bulldozing toward the date line...

Lesson learn, " Always a moment to consolidate the situation."

Finally welded the bearers. you can see my temp brace had slagged, should have use something stiff, like a pipe or something...
Cross bearer welded.jpg
Anyway, will fit the braces on & make some last minute alignment.

You must put in the final strong braces (with diagonals) at the ends before you turn it over. (the channel supports are only weakly connected with those single welds now, and there is going to be a lot of stress during the turnover)

Require some weight lifting exercise. It would be much difficult after welding...

Thanks again.
