Using a data bus instead of typical parallel cable
Hi people,
I'm wondering if it's okay to use data bus (pretty much like IDE HDD/DVD-ROM cable) when building a parallel cable is okay. It's kinda hard for me to find gay (male-male) DB25-DB25 parallel cable. Most shop carry DB25-to-Centronix cable. Could just chop the centronix head of, but now that i'd to do some soldering why not just buy data bus and all i need to is just a few crimping. Plus, finding long parallel (ready-made) is quite a task. sample : http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/..._ide-cable.gif will the parallelness of the wire cause trouble? |

We call it "ribbon" cable.
If it is not screened/shielded, you need to keep it away from wires with power spikes, and you need to keep it as short as possible. |
