mach 3 setup help

on the pmdx-122 it shows the drive and step as 2-3 4-5 5-7 and 8-9
under port and pins motor output it shows just one x supply
as there is two motors should it not be two supplies?

Woodguy,

If you use one port, say J1, for both X's then you will use 2-3 for X. Many have both X motors going to the same J1.

If you use two ports, say J1 and J4, then you use X and A-Axis for the second motor and you would use 8-9 for the A-Axis and 2-3 for X.

Hope that helps

Woodguy,

First I would suggest that you go to the Mach website and download the configuration document. It talks about how to set up the additional motor.

The A-Axis is below the Z motor and you use 9,8 for it. Also you have to set up the A-Axis in Input Signals and under Slave Axis you have to declare the drive.

Get the document, if you have any questions after you look at that, post them.

We will help you but you need to look at the document. It will save you some head aches.

I have setup my controller today. jog all axis, setup e stop, tune motors.
i am not trying to set up my zero plate in setting alt6 i have added zero plate thickness,
and safe z height. i used port 1 pin 11 and enabled it as low active.
what i am not sure about is where do i wire the z plate to the controller.
[on another subject] if i shutdown my computer before i shutdown the controller
i get a loud thump and the x axis lurch forward about 1/2 inch.
definitely a problem there.
thanks paul
i have added a zero z scrip with 5 sec delay on a dro on mach3 controll screen . did this with the help of
Scott Worden .

Renraku,

There are some excellent documents on the Mach website that will help you on how to set things up. That is a very good place to start because you will learn other things that will be most helpful to you.

Try there first.
