That logo looks pretty impressive, considering the size. What gearing are you using on your motors? How was the aluminum to cut? What type of bit? |

the gearing is 7.2, with rails made on a bench grinder. The bits are printed circuit board bits from Ebay. I had cut a couple out of plastic laminate and just had to see if the MechMate would do aluminum. |

Yes Gerald about 1 inch.
I have smaller bits order. Your design allows small imperfections in the rails not to be a problem. |

Good to see you back in the post. I concur, I have done some small aluminum (okay 1/2" thick bar stock 6061T variety) with multiple passes and all worked well. The MM had no problem with 1/8" depth passes w/ 1/4" spiral up Ti coated bit. Occasional spritz of "dry spray lubricant" shot on bit - but not constant. |
