A very sad news.
I always remember the great contribution and the great idea of the "J.R. skate"
I think that his idea made possible to build the Mechmate with very simple tools.
Thanks J.R.
We will miss you.

I have been talking a little here and there with JR's wife Sherry.
She is trying to learn how to operate JR's Mechmate as JR had
some business going on that he used his MM for and she would
like to continue it. She has all his files that he used to cut the
parts he was making, but she does not know where to start
to learn to cut parts on the MM. She has asked me if I could post
this on the forum to see if anyone is close enough to her and if
they would be willing to maybe give her a few personal lessons
in operating the MM. Is anyone with MM experience and Mach3
close to her in Wilmington NC?

Hmm. That's about 1325km (13 hours) south of me, and 925km (8 hours) north of Sean. If we can't find anybody closer, I'm willing to donate into a travel fund.

Thats about 18 hours for me.
Any chance we could do something remotely?
Skype or a gotomeeting kind of thing?
Todays tech precludes the absolute necessity of being in the same room, sometimes...
Just thinking out loud here.

Skype could very well work nicely if a separate computer
(say a laptop) could be put near each machine so you could
pan to see screens and see what the other person was doing.

I have more time then money at the moment .... so if I can help with skype, mail, recording you tube videos ecc I would be pleased to help. Would be possible for Sherry to open a thread here and start making questions and we will try to do our best to answer with video and photos ecc. ?

For remote control.
I have a programm on my machine installed that my computer can be completely taked over by another computer. During start up fase, my frend in holland could take over my mechmate and opperate it, we did the communication with Ipad, so we could talk and let him show what is going on.
Can be usefull for her, during start up period

Question

Hi all:
I am not sure where to post this, But Sherry Hatchers husband has passed a while back was a Mechmate builder, and she is looking for someone near the Wilmington NC area that could show her how to run her husbands Mechmate. She is eager to learn, but needs guidance and someone to assist her in the operation of the machine.
Her e-mail is: sa_hatcher*at*yahoo.com .
Thanks for listening,
Toad

Very sorry to hear (I see it was back in 2012). I too am not in the area, but certainly would be willing to speak with her via phone or skype or whatever if it might be of any help? I hope that there is someone near enough that could give some hands on lessons.
Mark
