Very nice work! May I please ask what kind of welder are you using? Also, would you mind sharing your technique? It looks very clean and professional!
Thank you, Mo |

I use a MMA Gysmi 165 inverter http://www.cromwell.co.uk/GYS8801650D with basic electrodes OK 48.60 http://pdf.directindustry.com/pdf/es...-84893-_5.html . After the welding I grinded the parts with an angle grinder and then smoothed them with a rotary wire brush attached to my angle grinder (something like that http://www.toolshopdirect.co.uk/item...2/2636/sn/WB04 ). |

Thanks for details! It really helps, I have no experience welding and I'm trying to decide if I should try embarking on this or just having it done by a friend (professional welder).
I'm kinda going towards "outsourcing" this part. Like you I would probably favour using some bolts, since I will probably have to move the machine not too far from now. Thanks again! |

You owe it to yourself to at least "have a go at it" with borrowed equipment...

Hey Ken ... Yeap, I think I will try it! How hard can it possibly be?
Just bought the Miller student books, after reading them, I guess I will just have to practice. But let's see ... as they say, time is money. Thank you, Mo |

ESAB is very familiar to me! I own one also. Mine is 90i I think and is tig, (tungsten inert gas) and stick. (shielded metal arc).
If you have someone to show you arc welding, you will learn much faster. I am the proof though that it is possible to learn from books and the internet. |

I just finished something to make money. I think these would been got more interesting with a finished MM. I've made two sets of this parts at a resonable price. If somebody is interested, contact me. I've started to cut the rail. Here are some pics. |

I refurfished an old big box and made it smaller. For the time being it is empty. I'm waiting for the drivers.

I made the last shopping: PMDX122 (http://www.pmdx.com/PMDX-122), the drivers M880A, the e-chains and the proximity sensors from Claudia (http://www.driver-motor.com/Products.aspx).
I received the cables to, now I'm going to start the cabling. I moved the control box from the wall, near the table to reduce the amount of cable used. It looks like I'm not going to be bored with all those cables. |

I managed to connect the wires from the motors, drivers etc . Here is the first test : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzM_UKVceoQ . I need to make the configuration in Mach3 better, but in rest it's working.

I made some pictures from the "inside" the box and the command buttons. Next I'm going to make the wiring and put the "inside" back in the box.

Thanks a lot guys! The final sizes are X:2640, Y:1640 and Z:200 (mm).
Now I'm cocerned about what spindle to buy. A 220 or a 380 (3-phased) powered one? Will a 2.2kw be enough or should I buy 3kw? Water-cooled or air-cooled? |
