New builder - Karlovac, Croatia

Hello to everyone
First excuse my bad english I'm learning.
This is the best site on the web about cnc machines
After browsig throght forum i decided to build mech mate but i'm having some problems and questions.
Mostly i build furniture so i need mechmate for circulare cuts on the boards, standard dimension of the bord is 205x275 mm .I am from Croatia so most of the electronics are not possible to atain. I will try to order the electronic parts but i couldnt find shematic for asembling do they come with the board or did i just mist them on the forum.
I need motors for only x,y movement but i vould like to have z but i dont need the rotation will it work with xyz without rotation or do i need motor for rotation also.
I know that i need to order motors drivers and mainbord but what else do i need for main electronic parts that i cant buy in local electronic shop.

Welcome Branimir! My wife and I drove through Karlovac 2 years ago but unfortunately we did not stop. We had to get to Samobor quickly.

Can you post photographs of the circular cuts that you want to make?

Can you take this photo and these photos to your electronics shop and see if they recognise the parts? You should try to find an electronics shop that specialises in supplying equipment to factories where the need to control electrical motors - this is different to the electronics shop for guys fixing radios and music systems.

Thanks for reply Gerald i hope you visited plitvicka jezera (lakes) they are the best thing in the country.
Sorry for not being precise i need to cut diferent type of curves for beds kitchens and so on some of that is circular i also have other hobys like airplane&boat modeling and i am work in costructual ingeniering so the mech would be used for many things.
Fortunately i have some friends curently working in US so they can bring me parts that i need.
Question about power suply does it work on 220v AC or is it made for 110V AC because 9V transformer in picture is for 230V but i think US has 110V AC.
Do i have to pay attention to something else on troid transformer or it simply needs 50V AC output.
So i need to order geckos 202 PMDX-122 and i will try to find motors in croatia and parts for power suply.
I will try to document everything that i do.
Thank you.

Yes, we did visit the lakes, but it was raining that day. We will have to go back again!

I think I understand about your "circles". You want to work mostly in 2D (two dimensions, x, y) only. For this you already need 3 motors and 3 drivers because the x-axis needs 2 motors/drivers. If the expense is a problem, leave a space for the z-axis, motor and driver.

The questions you are asking about the transformers are very simple and I am concerned that you are going to start a small fire when you assemble the system. May I suggest that you find someone with a little more electrical experience to help you - I believe this could be less expensive for you. Can I suggest you visit a technical college and show the MechMate to them, and see if they are interested to build one for themselves, as a student project. Or if they can get a good student to work with you, which is going to help that student a lot.

Kako si branimir pejnovi

My croatian is very limited Branimir , although i was born in Croatia but have lived in Australia all my life , your English is very good judging from what I have read in this forum/thread.

I accidentally come across this forum via a link from www.cnczone.com in someone's thread , so I thought I might have a look and see what this forum is all about.

Yes plitvicka jezera are very beautiful and spectacular to see as i was in Croatia back in 1977.

I will keep a close eye on this thread.

Just quickly , i have a few links to German and Hungarian CNC websites you might be interested in . As these countries are very close to you and one boarders with Croatia. There might be some close suppliers to you. Let me know if your are interested.

As far as stepper motors or servo motors go , this will be the best place to buy them from http://www.kelinginc.net/index.html , Ok it is from China but 90% of things are made in China and labeled differently in another country or under the supervision of a licensed manufacture , sourcing there products to be make off shore in China , cheap labor and materials.

Lets face it China will become the SUPER POWER of the INDUSTRIAL WORLD as there apatite becomes more and more aggressive for technology.

Cheer Ivan
