Foinikas,

Welcome to Gerald's MechMate.

I don't believe there is anyone else that has signed in that is from Greece. There are many here like you that do not have much experience with building a machine like this but there more experienced builders that will be happy to help you. Just ask and good luck with your build.

I would like to ask How i should start to build my mechmate. i Need cuting area 1500mm X 1000m.I have download the pdf files take a look on them (Great Work very detailed) and i would like to ask:
1. Because in greece step motors are very expensive and because is my first try
to build something like this,i am thinking to order them from another country In europe or Usa.I would like to suggest me Some motors to Look or buy.
2.If i understand well The step motors have there own control unit that you need to Build in a panel (Box),or I need to make a Control center As the pdf
File describe?

If hope my first try to go well.

Thanks for your time, and sorry for my english isn't so good.

Sakis, I know this site is very large and it can take some time to know where everything is.

Start here for the motors you will need:

http://mechmate.com/forums/showthread.php?t=254

You need to build a control center box, then put the "MOTOR CONTROLLERS"
inside of it:

http://mechmate.com/forums/showthread.php?t=278

Keep studying the plans and reading on the forums. It takes about 80 hours of study to learn it all, and a little longer for those who need to translate the English language into their own .

Thanks for the Help.
My current Status is : I am translate the PDF files Located at Download section Because i cant Build it my own i ask the help of an expert friend in metal construction I also check the motors and as i understand a good choice is PK296A1A-SG7.2 motor with gecko G202or G203v(Please make the proper changes if i am wrong). I have contact already contact Oriental Motor (Impossible to find step motors in greece in a fair price) and ask about Reseller in europe .
Also reading the site I see the use of PMDX-122 is this what i also shall use or go to something like pmdx-131or pmdx-132 to avoid any mistaces from my side (a bit easer to connect it i dont understand lot of terms you use).
And the last What power Supply shall i use is any ready kit to suggest me
we use in greece 220-240v ac at 50-60hz.

Thanks for Your support !
When pdf translated and want i can upload it.
Thanks again Sakis.

Sakis my 1st choice would be the gecko G203V it is much more user friendly because of it's forgiveness when it is wired wrong.

I believe that the PK296A2A-SG7.2 is preferred by most with the G203V due to its better torque curve and lower inductance that makes it a good match for the G203V.

After long time away im back to action i will start to construct it asap i will order the motionking motors 34HS9801 for start

Here is the reply from MK

Yes, you can use our SM-82A. Its price is $85.00/pcs. They can be delivered together with motors within 8 working days. If so the updated cost is as below:
SM-82A, $85.00/pcs, 4pcs ----------------------- $340.00
34HS9801, $50.00/pcs, 4pcs ------------------- $200.00
Express Freight Charge --------------------------- $210.00
PayPal Surcharge (5%) --------------------------- $37.50
SUM ------------------------------------------------------ $787.50

Pls confirm and advise

but i would like to ask about the Drive since i read that in the start they was recomend another type of drive -2H090MK ( http://mechmate.com/forums/showthrea...g+drive&page=4 ) Post 99.

So i would like to ask Shall i order them or stay on gecko I consider the money since my budget is limited for this (I buy another cnc and it was a failure).

Here is the Link to the Drive Page: http://www.motionking.com/Products/D...or_drivers.htm

And the Pdf for the SM-82A http://www.motionking.com/download/S...tion_Rev.E.pdf

I will not order the drive unless Ppl in this forum say that will work .

Thanks. Sakis

Welcome Sergio,

so there is a Greece build and a soon to be Greece build, right?

Plenty of people here to help out and no worries, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to build a MM. We also have a 'Introduce yourself and start planning' forum here in case you are not sure yet even what size to build and just in a planning phase.
