nema17 stepper motor

Hi everyone,
After watching some videos on youtube about stepper motors, I got interested in developing a small project with Nema 17 stepper motors using ESP8266. My basic idea is to move an object from one end to another with the help of strings (which will hold the object) or similar material, these strings will be connected to stepper motors and then control these stepper motors using esp8266. Now, I am confused about choosing the stepper motor driver. I came across some drivers like L9110, L298N, A4988, PCA9685 DC Motor and Stepper Motor Driver and PCA9685 PWM and Servo Driver. So, can anyone suggest me which driver would be suitable for such a project? It would be more helpful for me if I have example links of similar projects.
