Shopbot rails delaminate?
Just the other day, I was visiting a shop that has a PRT 60 x 96 machine and noticed something particular about the rails. They were really sharp!
Shopbot uses 3/16" or 11 ga sheet to brake form their rails. Additionally, the smaller #2 BWC rollers on the gantry have caused the top edge (that 1mm part that we don't grind) to peel off like a razor wire. Very interesting fatigue issue with this machine. And it's a really low cycle machine. The Mechmate crowd should have nothing to worry about - just noted by me on what was happening to a 3-4 year old machine. Sean |
