Hi Gerald,

How can one have the latest plans in DXF or DWG instead of PDF?
I have on records many of them from 2006 but too many seems to be updated. I would like to clean & update all those before going any further since I prefer outsourcing & working with DXF and/ or DWG direct in AutoCad !
Thanks, Robert

Robert: Here is some info on the process:

http://www.caddigest.com/subjects/pdf/tutorials/select/082503_teselle_import_cad _drawings.htm

I found it in this index on Cad Digest:

Thanks David,
But this is not what I'm hopping to get (if not to much asking?) ! !
Since I work mostly (99%) with a 3D software, I was hopping to import the new updated files.
Unless I'm mistaken, it always better to have the originals in dxf or dwg in order to have some parts commission ( Lazer cut, V-Roller housing?)?
Also, unless I'm getting to rusty and excuse me for loosing some with AutoCad usage, your suggested approach only enable to see the 'bitmap' directly in AutoCad, but you loose all 'adaptivity' to it. It's only an image now!
Just like using a pdf reader (Acrobat reader) ??.
Can't remember how but sometime last year, I somehow got those originals in dxf !?
I'm hopping to get those updates again in DXF !
Gerald?. ??

Guys, while Gerald is away, the answer to your question may be the second post of this thread. I don't mean to put a damper on things, but the dxf files are Gerald's sweat, blood, tears and toil and I don't think he is interested in giving them away. The machine can be made quite easily from the documents he is freely giving away (ie the pdfs). Hope this helps some. And Gerald if I'm overstepping my bounds by writing this just let me know. This is not meant to be taken in any kind of mean manner just an answer to the question.

Everything can be made from the PDF files, and if you have just a little knowhow in Autocad or any other Cad program, then you should have no problem making the DXF files yourself...

I have made all part's from the pdf files, so I know this can be done...

I can understand why Gerald would not send out all his DXF files, cause ther's a lot of work behind the production of all of these... If people want to build a mechmate, then use the forum, use the pdf's, but make an effort to build it yourselves, the fun part of making a CNC machine is to figure out a lot on your own....

I hope I haven't offended anyone, but I think that many are hoping to have everything made simpel.. Gerald has made alot of it simpel by releasing his drawings free of charge, I for one are very happy for this, but I'm also putting in alot of effort to make drawings myself...

Well, goes to show you learn something new every day! I didn't know you could make dxf's from a pdf file. Guess I'll just keep on hacking away at it the best I know how BTW great job so far on your machine Kim.

1. My dxf drawings have some surplus layers of junk info that will be confusing

2. My mission is to give the builders as much help and clear information as possible. I have a low interest in helping re-designers - except for things like using standard V-rails

Hi all,

Sorry, did not want to start a polemic and/or offend anyone !
I obviously need to do more research & homework.
Gerald, do I discard all previous plans I have and start fresh with what is now available from the download page ?
Thanks, Robert

Robert, how must I answer your question? I don't know what plans you have. The dates of the revisions are clear (I hope) on the download page.

Thanks Gerald,

For starters, I?ll need to double & triple check and do some cleaning on what I have ( allot from MechMate ) and then start my personal page not to confuse my need with this thread.
For now I would appreciate getting those dxf :
10 30 422 BB,
M1 20 120 AB
M1 20 121 TB
M1 20 210 TB
M1 20 220 TA
Thanks for your time on this Gerald. BTW, there is no rush for this. If I understand correctly, your on a trip somewhere, so this can wait till your back and settle !
Later, Robert

Take 10 30 422 B as an example - the only purpose of that drawing is to show the bending positions/angles and I will not bother to update that drawing if a hole shape/size is changed. If you want accurate hole information, then 10 30 422 P is important, and that you have as a dxf.

I don't want to create confusion, and waste a lot of time in answering questions, by releasing drawings that contain "mistakes".

Let's make it clear, hopefully for the last time, .dxf's will not be supplied on request.

I do not have a master 3D model where each drawing sheet updates automatically - each sheet is drawn manually and independently. That's the way I personally like doing it and it allows me some artistic freedom in representing the manufacturing processes.
