Spindle cooling Fluid

I found this brochure from DowTherm (web site www.dowtherm.com) which makes cooling fluid for industrial machinery and for the machinery used in the manufacture of food.

There is an interesting section on the comparison of cooling properties of water, automotive antifreeze and inhibited Ethylene Glycol. Also a comparison of the corrosive properties of each type of fluid.

The fluid that looks best for our application could be the SR1 product.

I think there is some good general knowledge in this article to make an informed decision on what we should be looking for in a cooling liquid and what is best for the life of a liquid cooled spindle!!

cheers
Chris
