Can any one tell me why to use the 4 to 1 reduction drive vs direct drive.......will it run slower but have more torque.

Mike, it will run slower, have more torque, smoother movement, and greater accuracy. Since there is an upper limit on practical speed based on the tool (bit size, type, spindle speed, spindle HP), it is a net win - the machine works better and can cut more material faster.

Press the "Go Advanced" button below the Message box.

Then press the "Manage Attachments" box.

Remember that pics need to be small to upload them, so a max of 650x650 on Jpgs.

So,
what are you going to use the MM for? I see a lot of classic cars and a pristine shop!
That Ford Fastback looks awesome!

2 inch square aluminum tubing with half inch spacing for clamping and waste material to fall through......with nylon spacers, and held on by stainless teck screws from the under side......kind of a expensive deck but it looks cool!

Hey, Mike. When I tried that link, I do not have permissions to the file. You may try Vimeo to upload your videos to and to then share links. It is free, with a limitation on the size of video you upload per week. Oh, and don't worry, I understand the 8 year timeframe!

Mike,

Congratulations on your progress. You're cutting, you've got paint. All you need is to add MechMate logos and you're ready for a Serial Number.

By the way, you can also paste a LINK directly to your Post. Just "highlight the text" you want users to click, select the LINK Icon (World with a paper clip) and paste your link. Like this Link to Mike's MechMate cutting foam.
