Mach3 "steps per" with rack and pinion

Hello again,

I have tried to calculate my self "steps per" magical number, but i don't understand few things. I read this topic "Understanding & Selecting gear pinions" and downloaded excel calculator.

I have Wantai stepper driver, on driver i can choose "Pulse/rev" to: 400,800,1600,3200...... 1000,2000,5000.... And my stepper motor is "1.8 step angle=200 full steps for one revolution"
So calculating "Driver Microsteps" in excel calculator i have:
1/2=400 is equals to 2 "driver microsteps"
1/4=800 is equals to 4 "driver microsteps"
1/8=1600 is equals to 8 "driver microsteps"
1/10=2000 is equals to 10 "driver microsteps"

I am right ?

If yes lets go next:

I have rack&pinion system with Module 1.5 and 12 tooth pinions. Reduction is belt driven 3:1.

In excel i got Steps per (millimeter) with "Driver microsteps" set to 10 : 106.103 <- this is magical number witch i have to enter in Mach3 "Steps per" window ?

If i am right what "Driver microsteps" i have to choose for my machine (3x2m working area) ? I read somewhere that setting 1/16=3200 pulse/rev is good ?

My motors are Nema34, 1600oz

1/16 is above mechanical error for stepper positioning, so 1/10 is some practical maximum. 106.103 is a good value for steps per mm.

show us some pics of that 1.5 module rack , and how the motion feels?

Yet i didn't try to move my cnc, because i am waiting some parts for reduction and before i get it i am trying to calculate all settings for mach3. I will make photo later, because don't have it at computer (need to go to workshop).

Also what about Velocity and Acceleration, i know that to set properly settings i need a lot of trials, but maybe somebody with experience can tell us the most used and working calculations, for exampe if i would like to move my cnc for speed like 10m/min.

you can set velocity at 10 or 14.000 mm/min , and an acceleration to about 650, use lower figures and after testing increase to these
