Computersculpture.com for 3d scanners, CAD software, CAM software, and Desktop Mills
Hi All;
I'm Andrew Werby of Computersculpture.com. I'm a CNC enthusiast myself, and have built some of my own equipment as well as using high-tech tools to do sculpture and other projects. I sell 3d scanners that bring objects from the real world into the computer, 3d modeling tools including the amazing touch-feedback systems from Sensable Technologies, CAM software like RhinoCAM, VisualMill, and DeskProto, and small CNC machines like the Taig and Sherline. I like to talk about all this stuff, which is why I got into this as a business, and also why I'm here. I've admired the Mechmate for a while now, and I'm glad to see it doing so well, with such an active online forum. If I can help anyone here get better results from their machines with some of the products I sell, that would be great, but I'm happy just to stick my oar in whenever it might do some good. Of course, if someone here already owns any of these products and needs help with them, I'd be glad to try, even if I didn't happen to sell them to that person - feel free to bounce any questions off of me that you want. scaners
Scanner products have improved dramaticaly in the last few years. What I want is a scanner that can be mounted to my gantry and do 2 and 3 D scanning of work area 4' by 8' and/or 18" by 10" column mounted on the A axis. I haven't found anything like that yet.

Art, here is an example:
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/21...nc_router.html And another: http://www.denford.ltd.uk/index.php?...d=96&Itemid=65 They are laser distance sensors. Have seen some that project multiple angled beams to "see" difficult detail. Each beam just senses distance, and software works it all out. There is a ShopBotter who built his own, but he is telling nobody how he did it (he advertises his laser scanning service). |
