Optimal Choice of NEMA Motors for a MechMate Under Assembly

Hello everyone,

I’m currently building my MechMate CNC and I’m at the stage of choosing stepper motors. I’m still hesitating between different NEMA 23 and NEMA 34 models, depending on the machine’s weight, the type of work I plan to do (mainly wood cutting, sometimes aluminum), and of course my budget.

I’ve done quite a bit of research, especially through the very rich discussions on this forum, but I would like your practical feedback:
– Which motors have you chosen?
– What minimum torque would you recommend for the X/Y axes?
– Any advice on mounting (springs, plates, mounting holes, etc.)?

I found several interesting models on OMC Stepperonline:

If anyone here has already tested them on a MechMate, I’d be curious to hear your impressions.

Thanks for sharing your experience!
Tristan
