Just call me:

MechMate logo as a font

After attempts to use the MechMate logo files here:

http://www.mechmate.com/forums/showt...5&postcount=20 (since deleted as they seemed to cause problems)

Which appear to have 20 layers and unconnected points, I figured an actual font file would be better since I could then use it in other applications and documentation. So, the result is the MechMate logo true type font file. This font includes all upper, lower, numbers and most characters in the same format.

To get the drop M's in the MechMate logo, you will need to change the kerneling on the lower case letters to raise it up, creating the lower hanging M's.

To install this TTF font into windows, download and extract the .ttf file, then drag the .ttf file into your C:\windows\fonts (usually) font folder. It will indicate that it is installing the font. Open your application and then under the fonts list, look for "MechMateLogo".

have removed the font file

I am amazed that the logo has caused so many problems! It is supplied very clearly and scalable in the title blocks of all the .dxf drawings you downloaded.

The problem I had was with the referenced files. Do you get the same problem (unjoined lines) when you open the .EPS file in your applications?

Having the font also allows people to expand upon the current logo. Say they want to put in "MechMate Mamba Edition" or "MechMate design by Gerald D" or "MechMate #888".... Maybe when someone writes the MechMate book, they can do it in the MechMate font?

Just more functionality...

Believe it or not, I don't have the tools to open .eps or .cdr files. Unfortunately I cannot check/verify/approve/endorse/whatever every bit of data that everyone loads to this site. I gave up on that long ago - it is not only a question of tools, but time also.

I don't like that the logo is available as a font. I wanted the logo to be unique (and simple) so that it stands out from anything else around it.

Can you give examples of well-know brand names / logos where the same font is used throughout their websites, advertising copy or manuals?

From Wiki - "A logo (Greek λογότυπος = logotypos) is a graphical element, (ideogram, symbol, emblem, icon, sign) that, together with its logotype (a uniquely set and arranged typeface) form a trademark or commercial brand. "

A MechMate "logo" would be something like this:

I think it's a bit odd that you'd be upset about someone taking the time to better the entire MechMate project with more functionality and simplicity.

David, you and I obviously march to different drums. I am what I am and I can live with it.

You seem to be the one that's struggling to find your place. You already asked me to delete your "personal" thread - let me know if there is anything else that you want to retract.
