Smallest project size for a full size MM?

Just wondering what the smallest project size can be done with a "full" size Mechmate, one with an appx. 4x8' work area.

Can you do real small stuff, like custom etching dog tags for example as well as doing full size signs?

I have a list of potential projects in a wide variety of sizes.

Thanks,

Russ

The machine has got the resolution (especially if you add reduction drives), it just depends on how small your cutting tool is.

Browse the The Show Room and see some small stuff like this one:

I just ran across the build thread of Jayson in Australia showing some small projects he's done.
Great! really looking forward to starting my build now that I know it can pretty much do everything I require.

Thanks everyone!

Yep, small should be no problem depending on what it is you are doing. My belt reductions are only 3.2:1 so if you use 7.2:1 and forgo some speed you could get it even finer than I have. Having said that, I have not seen the need for more accuracy.

Good luck.

Jayson
