Just call me:

10 10 302 S - Maximum spacing of cross bearers

Gerald -

The plans call for a quanity of 8 cross bearers but there isn't a note as to the maximum spacing. So, it seems that 1ft, on center spacing is reasonable but some of the longer X table lengths leave some gaps (distances in feet):

X Length Distance between cross bearer o.c.
8.00 1
9.00 1.125
10.00 1.25
11.00 1.375
12.00 1.5
13.00 1.625
14.00 1.75
15.00 1.875
16.00 2

Is there a magic on center distance that shouldn't been exceeded before another cross bearer is required?

Thanks,
david

Keep the spacing in the range of about 14" to 16"

8 cross bearers will not give you a 1 ft spacing

Just call me:

How I arrived at 1ft was by an X of 97 inches divided by 8 (actually equal distances) cross bearers. Thanks - I didn't even think to look on that sheet. It looks like 13.7" spacing - I'll use that in my formula for determining the number of cross bearers.

Thanks!
david
