folks - I finished Z axis mod's , the reason I took it up was that i observed pitting marks on my 3d carvings, well now they have gone away by 90% , but a bit is left out - I dont exactly know where the problem lies - but sure some day i will sort it out.

Irfan, didn't anybody tell you that you cannot do a job like that with open loop steppers? Were you not supposed to be using servos? How did you fix the marks caused by the lost steps?

Ah - yes the work is fantastic - but I have just used the relief and changed a couple of tools and waited it out
The true credit goes to my Artcam guru for the relief and Mechmate (our beloved G') for executing it out. RGDS Irfan |

need some help
Hi folks - I am on to making a model car for a company for that they have given me a surface model, the problem is that I have use current surfaces which are curved to carve the model out, after finish the model has different heights at the bottom which needs material removal manually, I need help in the region of manual material removal conforming the the end surface of the relief,
hope some one can help me out here RGDS Irfan |

Irfan,
Very impressive work. If you only need to flat the other side, I would suggest using one of these. I use it for all materials including wood and MDF a lot with very good results. it has very good control over the amount of material removal. My sander is 300mm in diameter. PS106.jpg If you need contoured or pocketed other side, I think you can make a gypsum replica and use it as jig, in order to machine the inside. |

Irfan,
When you set up the material size, did you reference the Z to the top of the material or the bottom of the material. If it is at the top, use the bottom. See if that doesn't fix the problem. |
