Welkom

Groete

Message from Chris:

After I placed the message I realized that it would not be understand by everybody sorry for that.

I’m working for ***** here in Secunda in their telecoms department and my one hobby is a radio ham, I’m more of a listener and I do some electronic projects in my free time. I’m also trying to build flying model helicopters. There is the part where the cnc machine would come in handy.

Where do you start with the soft and hardware? Do you drive the x,y,z motors by parallel port or by pic or similar ic’s.

More info and pointers in the right direction would be highly appreciated.

I’m looking forward for your reply

Software:

Mach3 (see this thread) drives the machine from a standard desktop PC via the parallel port. Treats the CNC machine like a "super printer"

But, like any printer, you still need to design the thing that you want to print. For that you typically use standard CAD Software.

Hardware:

A good starting point to understand the hardware is in this thread.
