That reminds me. I will have to add up all my invoices over the weekend. A good guess would be be just over R30 000. Will post the exact figure next week.

My first priority is to get the door hanged between the Blue machine and the rest of the Garage.

Ok ok kick a man when is is down. I phoned the agents today they say.....WHAT !!! a model 3608B Makita...some oke back then used one of those to build a BIG BIG SHIP

Looks like I will have to cut my 1200W Bosch a bit and make a new bracket to get going again.

My mistake...I heard the brushes making a funny noise about 90% through a job...thought if I stop now, I have to start all over again..... lets see if it will finish the cut... next minute it just died. Open it up and saw to my horror that it hooked on one of the small copper strips and ripped it out of the armature....stupid !!

Rutherfords are the Makita importers - they may have a spare armature.

Hennie,
I left the doors alone now. Now I am playing around with off cuts in the garage.

I am having two small problems with the machine.
The motors are getting hot after about 40 minutes of cutting. Could only hold my hand on them for 3 seconds. I will have to change the resistors.
The second thing is the gear that slips on the z-axis. This only happens when I do small cuts like in a spiral down or when I tap a millimeter step at a time. It seems to be when there is not a full teeth on the gear, like between two teeth. The gas shock just push it up for about 2mm. I am still thinking how to solve this one!

Yes Kobus. I was pleasantly surpirsed how wel it work. I draw a small circle. Is this the right way to do it? I couldn't do a dot.

Johan, to check your motor heating, from this thread I can see:
Stepper motors: Motion king 34HS 9801
Drivers: Gecko G203 V

How many volts DC are you supplying to the Gecko's?
How are the motor wire colours connected to the Gecko's?
How much is the measured resistance of the resistors that you have on the Gecko's?

Gerald the transformer is rated 300VA on primery and 42V on the secondary that supply the PSU board bought from Greg, Edenvale.
Motor wiring are A+ to motor red, A- to motor Yellow. Second coil are B+ to motor white and B- to motor orange.
Resistors are 100K, 0,25W. I haven't confirm this by measuring.
Thanks

The circle thing is the way to do peck drilling in V-Carve pro, I also thought a DOT must be drawn, but when I did the dibbler the other day, I drilled all the holes based on circles.
I think 100k is way TOO much. Try 47k, but I still think the 42V is our problem.

From a quick look, the transformer voltage is okay, but your resistor is allowing too much current for a 4amp motor. The resistor should theoretically be 63kiloOhm and I would try 68kiloOhm which is the common one.

No problem, remember I ran 68k as well and my motors were pretty hot with the 42V. I now run 47k, ....they are still hottish, but I lost some Torque.

Ok, so I can try a 47k because it looks like you are running on the same voltage as me. I don't think they will be to expensive, so I will buy some 68k's as well.
Kobus by 'hottish', do you mean between frying an egg and the "tong tippie toets". Sounds like the S.A. quantity system. If you need between 4 and 10 you ask for a couple!
