A new build in Queens,NY

Hey everyone. First off, thank you to everyone responsible for the plans and this forum.

I just downloaded the plans, and I am a bit overwhelmed to say the least. I am a carpenter. I occasionally get a request for kitchen cabinets. I think a CNC would really help me to advance my business.

I am sure I am going to have a ton of questions. I have been playing with E-cabinets and I am hoping to be able to use the SBv201 instead of the Mach3 so I can us the shopbot link from e-cabinets. Hopefully this will not be too difficult.

I hope you have some time, because so far this all seems very overwhelming. The mechanical part seems very doable, it is the electrical that seems way over my head. Got a lot more reading to do.

It will come together. Keep reading and start with the part that you are most comfortable. We have all felt that way when we have started. Download the plans and understand them and read lots of threads.

Good luck with your build.

CNC information

Hi Chris,
Are you headed to the ShopBot Jamboree north of the city in Bedford Hills NY next weekend? There is four shops ( 3 one man shops, one 8 man shop ) from here headed down there on Friday. I am going just to learn a bit more about CNC machining. This might be a good opportunity for you to get some information. I would stay with the MechMate - I think it is a better machine. When you build from the ground up troubleshooting is easier and quicker when a problem arises.

This is the first I have heard of it. I would definitely like to attend. How can I find some info on this. I am probably only about an hour away from there.

I am definitely going to build the MechMate. Just thinking about using the SB software instead of the Mach3. So I can use e-Cabinets. I dont even know if this would work. I suppose i would use their Vcard instead of the breakout board in most of the builds. Or maybe in addition to it? I am just starting to comprehend all of this.

If not, I will just go with the Mach 3. Only thing is then I have to find good cabinet software with out paying thousands of dollars.

Thanks for all your help Mike.
I made it to the camp on Saturday. It was a good time. First time I saw a CNC in person. Kind of scared me a little. If I am able to build this, it will be a real accomplishment.
Anyway back to some more research.
