Hello all.
A friend of mine, Dave and I plan to build a Mech Mate this summer. We have an 18" Z axis for it and may need to mod the design a bit by lowering the bed. Maybe a variable hight bed? We are thinking 4'x8'. I'd like to hear advice on which motor/controllers to get. We are thinking Gecko drives. We are leaning towards ordering a pre-cut/bent kit of the smaller parts to get started with. I need to spend some more time on these forums to gleen more of the wealth of info. Any advice and pointers are greatly appreciated. We like the Mech mate design because it is proven, the licence is reasonable and the ruggedness of the design is of production quality. I have my wife talked into letting me use our heated garage to set it up in. I think she wants to cut glass for stained glass projects she does.
Thanks!
