Did you copy the Mach3Mill.xml file from the old computer to the new computer? That should cure the problems mentioned above. (Also remember to transfer the licence file)

Z axis problems

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i set up another computer installed and set up tuning xy and z also zero plate setting.
everything worked.
i then tried to run a file the z axis drove to the top and slammed into the stop.
i tried other files same problem.
also reinstalled everything same problem/
also tried another computer same problem.
once this happen the zero plate does not work anymore.
bit comes down hit plate does not move up.
i wonder if this can be a controller problem.
hope someone can help

Paul, I think you need to address the "tuned too fast for 25000" problem first.

It appears that your older computer had better latency than your new one, which isn't uncommon. The last time I was forced to upgrade my driving computer, the new one dropped my top jog speed by 25% due to lousy latency.

If you are overdriving the computer, all sorts of strange things can happen.

From your description, you have a Z axis that only runs in one direction, but it has done so in both directions at different times. The next thing I'd look at is the direction signal to the Z driver to confirm that it's actually delivering a usable signal level.

Hi Brad
thanks for your reply
i do not have the tuning to fast problem any more. and the computer i replaced is the same
as the one that crashed.
so i do not think that i am overdriving the computer.
how do i check the signal to the Z driver to confirm that it's actually delivering a usable signal level.
very new to all of this.

Paul,

To clearly see the signal, you'll need an oscilloscope; however, if you set your feed to a very slow speed, you might be able to see the signals with multimeter. The problem is that the pulse will be just a few microseconds long. Most meters will see that as noise.

If you have a PMDX-122 or other break-out-board that has LEDS, the LED will pulse. It it pulses, the signal is strong enough for the break-out-board to process.

Check the polarity settings in Mach3. Also, check the steps per inch or mm.
