Very nice, do I see some Vectric TEXTURE for the background ?
What is the size and did you POCKET the whole thing or made loose letters and stuck them on later. |

John,
Nice to see you still around! Love the sign. Do tell a little more, like software, cutters used, cut time etc if you have the info. How did you finish it? Sign mask and paint, or freehand? Looks great! |

Thanks for the comments guys.
Software used was Aspire, Cutters were 52-285 Onsrud for the roughing and profile cutouts, used a 60 deg V-bit for the outline where the letters would be attached, 1/2" Ball cutter for the relief. Total cutting time was around 10 hrs. The material was 3/4" MDF undercoated twice and top coated three times with Benjamin Moore paint applied by air. Letters and border were attached with PL200 cement and brad nails. Is a bit of an experiment to see if it will stand up to the elements. John |

Kobus,
The texture was a photo I got off the net, and the sign is 4' X 8'. Thanks for your comments. |

Did you cut the letters also? Do you have pics of the whole process? Which Vetric Software did you use?
Great sign!!! Mike |

Hi Mike,
I don't have pics of the whole process but I can tell you what I did. I Cut the relief using a 1/2" Ball end bit into a sheet of 3/4" MDF leaving islands for where the letters were going to go, I then used a 60 degree V-Bit to cut guides for aligning the letters. I then cut out the backdrop with a 1/4" upcut spiral. I cut the letters and the border out of another sheet of 3/4" MDF using a 1/4" upcut bit. After spraying the pieces with their individual colors I reattached them using PL200 and brad nails. Thanks, John |

your sign
hello John, I like your sign and that you made it from MDF. Can you tell me how it has stood up to outdoor life? I am thinking of making my own sign for outdoors and I was hoping to use MDF.
Thanks, Keith |

Hi Keith,
The sign has stood up pretty well so far, we had a big wind here some time ago and it ended up on it's face and cracked the border, but it's not that noticable. It has lots of paint on it which has helped a lot I would guess. |

John;
I really like the style of that sign. Any chance you could share the file. Thanks Greg |
