I machine a 1" thick plate to 3/4" and then cut the parts out, I then machined the base plate to 1/2" thickness. After I posted the pictures I went and modified the existing base to get lower to the table. This is for a porter cable router that has a 3.500 outside diameter so if anyone would like the DXF file I would be happy to let anyone have it.

Does your router or spindle face the long or short overhang end of your table?does it make a difference? Right now I have mine set up facing the y axis motor and the long overhang of the table.

Mine faces the short so the spindle cuts the full length of my table. I don't really know if there's a disadvantage the other way except that the backside of the spider is a great surface to mount dust collection stuff.

So what end of the table are you guys using for your x axis 0 or home?

Mine's short x side, right side if you're looking down the x rails, but you can put it anywhere you want it

Thanks for that link Bruce,I was searching for that the other day and couldn't find it. I switched things around today and took a short video before I tear it down for paint. Try this link if, it doesn't work I'll repost the correct one.
