I am now thinking of selling my vinyl cutter. You don't even need to buy that attatchment. With the level of people on this forum it is possible to design something like it. On my vinyl cutter the Roland blade is inside some sort of tube with a magnetic holder on the top to keep the blade in the holder, but allow it to swivel as the X and Y gantries moves and changes direction.

This is a little small, but here you get the idea. The vinyl cutting blade fits into the blade holder. It is free to swivel around to present the cutting edge to the direction of travel.

I don't understand ? On my existing vinyl cutter the vinyl runs over a metal frame. You set up the PRESSURE of your knife to cut just through the vinyl and make sure that the backing paper of the vinyl is not cut.

According to the article on the webpage in post#1 you stick the vinyl to the table with special spray on glue that makes the vinyl come off easily after cutting.

Remember this is not really to go into production of cutting vinyl for a signage company. This is for the MechMate user to make the odd vinyl sticker / decal

sorry not is a silicone is a teflon table.

the plotters carried a sheet of Teflon, under the vinyl, to "cushion" the pressure of the blade, and not cut the backing paper wen the cutter is not sharp or change the grossor of the vinyl.

6/10mm doesn't sound THAT thin. Why can't you cut it with the MM?

I think you would have trouble cutting that with a drag knife setup. Thats around 3/8" thick. Im with Doug, just hold it down to the table and cut with a good bit.

Funny now that you mention it, that seems more logical, I might need another coffee. The drag knife seems like a better idea now.

This is my vinyl cutter. It works quite well.

I place the vinyl on a nice clean bit of MDF and use the vacuum to suck through the MDF and hold it down.

These roland style blade holders can be had on ebay for about $30

Pics show the adaptation. Not exactly how it works in a roland cutter but it works OK.
