Wow, never thought of kangaroos being a problem to vehicles. Around here we have to watch out for deer. I got one myself last fall (October) with my truck. Different ends of the world, different animals, same problems.

DB9 two wire cable ??
Can you remind me where that goes in your system Tony. Also checked my stuff and it is still there so that must be your adapter and 50mm bit. Good luck with them both. Finally I'm still laughing at my own kangaroo joke, sad but true. Regards Ross |

Hi All,
The industrial grade RS485 to USB that Ross suggested and trialled is now installed and working and appears to be totally bullet proof. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfMdLPgGKf0 Spindle control is all working under Mach3 when running some GCode few other little settings to sort out like RPM etc, but other that that we are now all good !! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtCUoT3yKFA Cheers Tony. |

Great photos of the move!
A flatbed tow truck is exactly what I had in mind, should I ever need to relocate my MechMate . Sure beats trying to lift and carry all the parts.... |

Great Build Guys.
Paul RE: XBOX360 Mach 3 control. Have you used this yet? Are you using wireless or Wired? If Wired, how long is the cable? I am spending today configuring a Mach3 dedicated computer in a server case, could a long play day. Graeme |

Graeme,
The XBox 360 Control works just great !! we are both running wireless with no probs. Very configurable too!! we also use a docking station with re-chargeable's and is permanently connected, just pick it up and away we go Cheers Tony. |

I see in post #266 that you have a hole in the y-car to accomodate the proxy sensor. I assume you drilled this because my sensors are too tall to fit without a hole drilled?

If memory serves me right, the hole is on the laser cut drawing?

Ahem
Long embarrassed pause Moved part to other side of y-car where there is indeed a hole to accomodate the proxy sensor. |

Note:
If your using standard 4 pin connectors m4/m12 on a 45mm body sensor or longer, you will need to enlarge that hole to about 19mm so the bonnet on the shell will screw on the proximity body. Depends on your supplier, but all 3 of my machines required a little adjustment to the hole. Good luck! Sean |

Hi Guys,
Sorry for the late reply is I have been overseas a lot of late and also just had a stint in hospital. Gerald is correct the hole is in the laser cut parts. Sean is also correct, the hole in the Y car did not appear to be in alignment with the Y car stop so if the sensor we used was any larger in diameter or length a small adjustment to the hole would have been required in the Y car. Cheers Tony. |

Hi All,
Starting to feel a bit better after a stint in hospital and a few weeks off work recovering and taking things easy from my recent diagnosis of Myopericarditis. I felt like trying to do something today so made my first few pens using the new wood lathe that I recently purchased. Took me a few goes to get them right but got there in the end. Hope to get onto a few MM projects soon too. Cheers Tony. |

Tony,
I hope everything work out allright. It good to take on projects to take your mind off the other stuff. The pens look great, what type of woods did you use? The two outer pens look similar. Jason |

Hi Jason,
Sure is Jason certainly helps keeping the brain occupied!!. The timber used starting with the pen at the top was Ringed Blackwood, Black Palm, and an Australian Hardwood donated by Ross (Surfcnc) I have also just finished turning my first acrylic pen I am pleased with how it turned out also. Thanks Tony. |
