pmdx 133 fried
2 boards same place. These are at the x and slave motors. PMDX thinks it might be a part failure. Anybody else seen this? Comments?

If your motors hadn't turned before, and the burn happened at first attempt to power motors, then I think your motor wiring is incorrect and something had to give.
Did you unplug the green connectors off the board? If you do this too many times, the friction grip loosens and could start a burn point. |

Lots of dust... fire hazard
the wires look like they'r cooked, so it must have been some "short". Do drives still work? might been that they put out some voltage across those wires |

How are your motors wired at the other end of the cables?

(Of course this is during the table project and your pairs will be out on the end of your wires at the motors.) Also I agree you need to check for a short somewhere in the wiring. What part number wiring is that? |

oh.. haven't seen that its a Motherboard for Geckodrive. That those are the wires directly to the motors. Something really wrong happened here

133 wiring
huge current there, are there any other motors hooked up and working? please give us more info like, power supply, motors, when it happened first power on or during use? open the drive and see if there is any damage visible. might give clues

Unless the PMDX-133 was defective, it looks to me like a wiring error occurred. The wiring diagram (Table 2 in section 3.1 of the PMDX-133 manual) shows how to connect the wiring for the A, /A, B and /B connections to the Gecko stepper drives.
To get enough current to produce the kind of heat that caused that much damage means that a short occurred somewhere. I cannot imagine that Steve at PMDX would not have tested his products before shipping, especially something as obvious as a dead short between terminals. It could happen, but I've never seen that kind of error escaping quality control. |

Get the multimeter out and see whats going on.
