I wish I could have been there to see it!
Congratulations! Your video shows a fairly small cutter mounted on a standard AC motor and it cuts at quite a good speed . . . . . . very interesting. . . . . |

Can you show us photos of the cutting quality you get on the edge of the MDF with a 6mm cutter when you cut about a 100mm diameter circle? People say those big motors are not good, but the end of your last video shows a very fast and controllable machine. The only question now is the cut quality.
How does it compare to this, where we had direct drive with a smaller motor? |

Thanks for the pictures. Is that maybe about the same as what we saw at 80 mm/second (4800 mm/minute) with the shorter motors? I know it is very difficult to compare by photographs alone.

Vladimir,
Congratulations on your build. Gerald as added your build to the Builder's Log. The updated Builder's Log is here. Please tell me how big your table is. For example what are the dimensions of the spoil board I see on your table? Also, when did you actually start the build? Your first post was on 10-Jan-2009. But I think you had already been working on your MechMate before 10-Jan-2009. Finally, you will notice that your entry is not bold and that you do not have a serial number. I think that you almost qualify for a Serial Number. I think you only need to add MechMate Logo's to qualify. Of course, Gerald is the one who makes the decision to award a Serial Number, but I wanted let you know how close you are to earning a Serial Number. I'm currently building a MechMate and when I get it completed, I will be anxious to earn a Serial Number. Regards, John |

Wow that machine looks really good. The videos are very impressive. I think all you need now is some decals and the serial number should be in the bag!

Vladimir - I am amused at the way you hold the parts - with something as big as a Mechmate its quite difficult.
nice work though |

Vladmir I sometimes use the same principal, except I use small sticks 18" or so long. I have cut the ends off by mistake several times. If you continue this hold-down method you will too. All I needed to do was cut more sticks. What will you need to do ????????????????????
Nice cutting machine |

Linear Guideway
Hi Vladimir,
I'm curios how Linear Guideway takes the forces when you cut material like wood for example? Does those guideways resist in time and for how long ? Because when you cut along X and Y axis there are a lot of force in order to push through material. Thank you, Marius |

Hi Vladimir,
How is your motor and z-slide holding up? Are you still happy with the cut performance? |

The cut is not as good, but for major work is acceptable.
soon we will use 3:1 reduction. hugs |
