Oh well that's easy enough...if all you need to do is to "tare" the system (which I assume you simply do thru your software) then that is a non-issue from what I can see.

Sounds like you all have pretty much figured out how to accomplish this. I assume the reason this is an issue is because the steppers do not provide positional feedback, like a servo can...right? ...
