Generally on machines, the rotating axis is the Z.

The longest axis after the Z is called the X axis.

So your lathe axis are Z(Rotating) and X.

You can imagine X as across ( A Cross)

Process

As Ken C said, search for a .dwg or .dxf file or draw one from scratch.
Edit and scale the file to suit your piece of wood.
Save the file as a .dxf.
Put the file through your cam/ post processor...

You should not have a problem if you have used 2'' x 2'' (50.8mm)
