Red,
Thanks for the note. I hope all the input has helped you understand the proximity switch/sensor needs for your application.
The proximity (act like a switch) but do have there own specific...

Steve's notes are correct.
I choose to wire mine specifically this way so the interaction with the MM rail (so it detects a derail situation within my logic profile designed into my system) The...

Sergio, if you wire it that way...your good.
I was concerned you were trying to put the M12 connectors and their power on the 7 core cable...which would leave you short a number of strands....

Sergio.
7 core is for the pause, estop and resume buttons. The 7 core does used a shared ground for electrical connections to pins 11, 12, 13 and 15....with a common ground.
The proximity...

Gerald,
The 2-4mm sense - 12mm targets worked just fine, but I found that the clearance of 1mm was little too close. (little things liked to get jammed in the clearance area)
Electrically, they...

Steve,
The only noted challenge might be the noise potential on the ground. I tried some Allen Bradley prox units early on in Beta testing and found that the ac freq on the machine ground (from...

Heath,
As Nils and I found out, the Aluminum angle being a non-ferrous material requires a "little" longer sensing distance to work really well. If memory is right, we had the 3-5 mm sense and...

Francis.
The sensing distance varies on the quality and type of unit. Mine sense 0-3mm. Thus, I set them to "just be active" closer to the 3mm distance away. 3.5-3.75 mm activates the derail...

Nils,
My derails usually happen when a shop rag was left on the end of the machine and rollers ran over it! Thus causing just enough of a distance gap between rail and sensor to fault the machine. ...

John
Clarity understood. Yes, the proximities are always in a "hold the switch" closed when active and any incident that causes release will fault the machine. Similar in logic to an estop switch...

John,
Let's see if I can explain.
Mach is funny, that it actually has a built-in homing macro for finding home. It is designed to step through it's seek-n-find sequence going x, then x1, then y,...

The adjustment for the proximity limit can be either with the ecentric disk that is in the drawing package, or, like I have done, have a G-code offset programmed into mach 3. This lets you home the...

JR,
Thanks...typing before coffee dangerous! 18mm fine for target hole as long as your centermark and drilling is accurate. The 12mm sensors I used work fine on 13mm holes in other applications.
