One more note to the adventurous , laptop parallel ports do not have very strong bus drivers (the chips that drive the parallel port) on them. This is to save power when running on the battery. ...

The other problem with laptops these days is that they do not come with parallel ports anymore. You cannot just add one like in a desktop computer. Also a lot of the laptops that had parallel ports...
