I have heard of guys using long drills for side cutting of foam. Here (http://www.somta.co.za/cat/121.htm) is a S.African manufacturer of such drills. They do 1/2" drills with 6, 8, 10 or 12" flute...

Surely the compression cutter only works for one full depth pass? From what I read of the regular compression cutter users, they rarely cut material thicknesses more than 2X cutter diameters thick....
