Advice on Wantai Motors

Any advice on the suitability of these motors and drivers? My very uninformed reading of the specs on the motor is that they are close to the favored Oriental Motor at about half the price (or even less when you consider the driver is included.)

Thoughts anyone?

Thanks

Joe

The motors are rated at 20mH inductance. 32 X SQRT(20) = 143VDC. The stepper drivers are only rated at 45VDC. I wouldn't buy the motors and drivers without some serious testing first. From a casual glance, I think that you would be disappointed.

Thanks, that is the kind of expert advice I needed. (You can tell I am a stranger (woodworker) in a strange land (electronics) here).:)

@all,

if you want to go for a cheaper route then search in the forums, some people have successfully used the motion king motors (50usd each, not including transport) with cheaper gecko drivers, or even the drivers that motionking also is selling.

In reality, buy something that is 'approved' here at mechmate and tested by people here in the forum, or make sure you know what you are doing, but don't go cheap by buying something at ebay!

I strongly suggest check the website www.pmdx.com they have some nice offers, not a lot more expensive then the ebay offers, but more reliable and tested.

PS: I don't want to sound negative here, or judge your knowledge, I just want to prevent disapointments.

I second Ries's suggestion. I got stuck at the moment because I misjudge my ability :(
