I would like to share this free solution found on vcarvepro tips and tricks forum to create PDF grids automatically. This solution is independant from Vcarvepro software : it is a java script on the website : http://www.incompetech.com/graphpaper/

Very, very useful to create background designs, thank you Tim !!!
PS: in Vcarvepro you could import the grid directly on independant layer.

We use AutoCad hatch patterns and explode them into individual lines. Many hatch patterns can be downloaded free and others can be purchased.
