Logo & Paint color code for the MechMate

Gerald,

If you let me know the fonts for the logo "MechMate Forum", I'll reconstruct a new graphic for you that isn't so 'pixelated'. Also, could you let me know the size, in pixels, that is appropriate for the upper left of the forum. Graphics can fall apart when resized. I'd like to have your new baby looking really spiffy!.

Marc ;)

Gerald D Tue 22 May 2007 13:48

Marc, thanks for the offer!

History behind the logo is on the old forum here:
http://www.mechmate.com/Forum/messages/2/752.html

A vectorised version of the logo is on all the profile(laser) cut
drawings in .dxf format. Look in the title blocks of those drawings.

I am fussy that the logo must stay unchanged - no flames, wings, blurs, or any other FX. The "philosophy" of MechMate is to keep it simple & stupid - KISS.

Block on top left of this screen is 209 x 85

Another "must" is the blue colour of the old Forum, which supposedly matches the blue of the Ford Motor Company. I will try to get that blue onto this forum in a few places.

Marc Shlaes Tue 22 May 2007 16:06

Gerald,

The font was identified properly as Morgan, which unfortunately isn't one I own. I really like it though. Given that the price is 189 USD for the font, I will see if I can first do what needs to be done with the vectorized version. I think I might be successful. I will try. I'll keep you posted. No pun intended.

P.S. I agree with the KISS principles of MechMate. Remember the BOB vs. USB discussion while you are away. I rethought and said that staying conventional is the way to go for me.

Logo & Paint color code for the MechMate blue *

The color code for the mechmate, in RAL, what is this. I have a chance of getting my paint home cheap. But I need the RAL number of the paint...

Gerald D Mon 28 May 2007 07:49

Ral 5017, Pantone 301C, #006699, Traffic Blue (Verkehrsblau) should be the easiest (used on our motorway signs) or RAL 5015, or RAL 5010 sometimes known as "Ford Blue"

First try to find something close in small aerosol cans at the hardware shop. (Here it is called Electric Blue by Sprayon). Then get a big tin to match the colour of the aerosol. This allows you to find "touch-up"paint in 3 years time, when you do small modifications :)

Thx Gerald...

Luckily I have a paint company here in Denmark who can mix new batches of paint for me if I need it...

Gerald D Mon 28 May 2007 09:14

Lots of people mix paint here too, but nobody will mix less than a liter. :(

IN-WondeR Mon 28 May 2007 13:21

Gerald, ok. I see your point. They probably don't mix any less here....:-D

Logo and Color

Gerald,
I most assuredly will have the MechMate logo on my "beast", but is the "Ford blue" color a must. In another thread, someone painted theirs yellow and black. I really don't think that scheme works for me, but "Ford blue" and some other complmentary color might look cool.

Does the whole machine have to be blue?

P.S. - Got appoval from the boss to purchase the motors, BOB, PS, software, etc. Can't wait to receive parts and start playing.

Greg

The colour is not specified in the user agreement.

I am trying to build a "corporate image" which will help everyone when they come to selling the machine. It would be nice if someone walks into your shop and immediately recognises that you have a MechMate, or that he is tempted by the logo to go and google the word to discover thathe has indeed found the "home" of your machine.

The Coke logo without the red will be worth a lot less. :)

Greg J Sun 10 June 2007 12:20

Point well taken. I'll try and keep as much blue as possible.

One aspect of this whole "MechMate" approach that really appeals to me, is the world wide input. My college design classes stressed input from everyone. This is taking it to the nth degree. :)

Picked up my white MechMate vinyl letters today, 2 pcs 2 1/2" (63) high and 3 pcs 1 1/4" (32) high US $10. I had to convert the DXF file to a PLT file. It would have been a lot easier if I could have converted it as a CDR file (Corel). If someone would do this I think it will help. Thanks

tpworks Thu 26 July 2007 19:57

J.R.,
What font is it you are using?

Tom

Tom made some eps and cdr files which some people found problematic - I have since deleted them.

J.R. Hatcher Thu 26 July 2007 20:08

Tom you can pull the file from the "Profiles25FEB07.zip" file it's the logo on every page. thanks
ps It is in on the download thread.

extremecanvas Fri 27 July 2007 09:56

hey, if anyone can send me the mechmate logo file. I can cut out decals if anyone needs. I have a 30" summa s75 t-series plotter. I can make them any size if anyone needs. Take care of costs and shipping and I will make them for exchange of knowledge. J.R. if you need more let me know. I appreciate the call and the help. Send me the file and I can make it into a corel file. That is what I mainly work in.

J.R. Hatcher Tue 31 July 2007 08:57

I think this might help others. I used paint from Carquest, it was $30 per gal. It takes forever to dry, to touch 3 hrs. Completely I don't know yet it's only been 3 days. I found a better paint, I wish I had found it a week ago.

P.S. - I'm still working on the MechMate decals Gerald. They just have to be up to MM standards is all. ;)

Gerald D Fri 20 June 2008 22:35

Greg, you need this flag as well :)

J.R. Hatcher Sat 21 June 2008 05:30

Try this file, I had the same problem then found this file somewhere and it worked great. Just save the "MechMate logo.plt" file.

As usual, my wife had another great idea. I will also be adding a "World" decal. I couldn't have built my MM without help from people all over the World. This truly is an international project.
