Here is a new sub-forum for "troubleshooting"
Hi All
Quite often we do some troubleshooting in the personal threads, or somewhere else, and go through the pitfalls that more folk are going to experience. I would like to keep copies of all those troubleshooting discussions in one place. See this example of Fabrica in Sri Lanka: http://www.mechmate.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1066 The reason for his jerky gantry movement was a simple Mach setting, but we jumped through a lot of hoops before he discovered the root cause. That discussion and solution shouldn't get buried in only a personal thread. Can everyone tell us here of anymore buried discussions that I should copy to this sub-forum? Thanks |
GregJ just had the same type of jerky cut when he used a certain method to draw shapes in Rhino. He was so sure it was mechanical he started disassembling motor mounts (if I recall).

Marc is correct. I experienced some very strange motion (jerky) and thought it was a loose pinion.
What's the best way to "clip" those thread and post here? Or how do I make a link for just a few posts ? :o |
Greg, your post above is number 3 of this thread - you can see the #3 at the top right of the post. Right click on the "#3", Copy Shortcut, Paste, gives a link to that post. Eg.
http://www.mechmate.com/forums/showt...45&postcount=3 So, if you see a troubleshooting discussion anywhere, copy the first post of that discussion to here (this thread). I will dig from there on to find all the posts up to the solution and make a thread of them. |
Marc, I have already caught that one as an example. I didn't make it clear enough that the sub-forum of threads looks like this for a start.:

Thank YOU Gerald. Besides, I'm expecting to have to use this stuff one day so I'm really helping myself. :)

Good going Doug!
With my memory these days, I remember someone having jumper issues on the PMDX in the last 3 weeks, but I can't remember who it was - anyone help us out? |

That's it, thanks.
Looking over that forum and its topics, it strikes me that the majority are just getting started, teething problems. But I suppose most machines havn't been around long enough for wear and tear issues. :) |
