South Africa's bright people . . . . . .

There is a video on this webpage:

http://www.news24.com/Beeld/Video/0,...281235,00.html

The repeated words of the guy at the end are: Ek het dit nie verwag nie - I did not expect that.

Marc Shlaes Sat 08 March 2008 06:09

Unbelieveable! What did he think was going to happen? With all those additional people around, no one said: "Wait one second here!"

Greg J Sat 08 March 2008 07:18

Thank You Gerald,

I haven't laughed that good and hard in a while. :D

I'm afraid people all over the world are like that.

Marc Shlaes Sat 08 March 2008 07:38

Agreed. People like that are everywhere! In the US, we try to keep them in one place so we can keep an eye on them. We have a name for it. We call it Congress. :p:mad::(

here these stunts are call jackass ,here at least

Bill McGuire Sat 08 March 2008 09:37

Funny...
Kinda reminds me of the hunter in Colorado who shot a mule tail deer off a cliff. He, unfortunately, was standing at the bottom of the cliff when it fell... directly on top of him. Neither survived....

Gerald D Sat 08 March 2008 14:54

Those spectators actually stood further and further back - they sensed something was going to happen. But the real laughing moment was to see he had his "bakkie" (pickup) wedged behind a wall before he even started.

Greg J Sat 08 March 2008 19:10

Ah geeez, my wife and I watched the video again. I'm still in tears from laughing.

You would think when the cable cut loose, that would have been a "wake up call". Thank goodness no one was hurt.

Gerald D Sat 08 March 2008 23:08

Another crazy thing is that those palm trees are in big demand by property developers. A professional tree removal company (example) would have paid them to remove their tree for them!

Not the dumbest

See http://www.darwinawards.com/darwin/darwin2007.html
the Darwin awards are dedicated to those that improve the gene pool by removing their genes from the pool.

You can bring a few here. I have about 80cm of snow.

Marc,
We just got 50 or more centimeters of snow yesterday and today as well. :(

They found the people involved:

http://www.news24.com/Beeld/Suid-Afr...284263,00.html

The driver is on the right.

The gist of the story is that he was trying to do his brother-in-law (left in pic) a favour by removing the problem tree that had outgrown the garden. The tree was shedding leaves and had attracted many bird's nests.

"I was completely wrong in what I thought of the palm tree's porous wood"

I don't know the story on this one, it came in an email. I hope noone was inside the car.

I’d call this an extreme case of a « tree hugger » !!;)
Ya, hoping none were injured ?
