Thanks, Robert.

Wow, thats cool!

Andrew_standen Sat 17 August 2013 03:07

That's interesting, looks real good

darren salyer Thu 22 August 2013 18:31

Rust paint is backordered, so I sprayed some red oxide primer on it and "bolted" it to the wall. I'll take it down and "rust" it when I get the material.

Awesome job!

Not really CNC related, but similar.....
I broke down and bought a vinyl cutter this month, and I'm finding it way easier to draw in Aspire and export as an EPS than to draw in the software package that came with the machine.
A benefit should be that I'm able to cut vinyl to fit whatever I cut on the MM.
I'm already thinking of the possibilities of these two working together.....

Did you buy this? http://donektools.com/
I am considering it - adds extra business opportunities for the MM

danilom Tue 24 September 2013 05:09

Hans I bought this holder, made a small floating head from a inkjet printer guide and added 100gr of shims on top of it

darren salyer Tue 24 September 2013 05:53

I thought about that very seriously, Hans.
In the end, this looked like a better value.
No muss, no fuss, straight to cutting vinyl, while the MM plugs away cutting wood.

Wall Gear

The wall gear is awesome. The paint job makes the foam seem real.

oficina do corten Wed 09 October 2013 03:50

wow! very nice work! i will try a litle project with gear like this while my MM its still on hold. Thanks for this inspirational piece!

darren salyer Sat 12 October 2013 10:33

Cut this out of the leftover foam from the gear. I'll hang it over the 65 Mustang Fastback I've been working on even longer than the MM..
Any ides for a cool finish?

Hi, very nice cut Daren !
What about a all over glossy white lacker, then a fill with epoxy resin with translucent blue dye in the grooves ?

darren salyer Sat 12 October 2013 13:08

That would be pretty expensive. The background is routed .5" deep. and the border and letters are proud.
Great idea, though....

racedirector Sat 12 October 2013 20:01

A Ford man, I love it! Currently watching our Bathurst 1000km race in Aus rooting for the Fords....

lonestaral Sat 12 October 2013 20:17

Owned 3 Ford's once upon a time.

How about a matt black background with gold letters and rim.

Call me old fashioned....

Another coat of white, and this one goes on the wall. All scrap and leftovers. Zero out of pocket.

pblackburn Mon 14 October 2013 18:53

That looks to be the 20s through 50s logo, is that correct.

lonestaral Mon 14 October 2013 18:57

I never noticed that Ford is written as Feord.

darren salyer Mon 14 October 2013 19:02

Not sure about the logo years, the local Ford dealers sign looks the same as this one, and its only been in business 20 yrs or so.

servant74 Mon 14 October 2013 19:22

Several logo's are here.. Since 1912 the Ford has had the 'e' curl on the end of the F. So it has apparently been around for a while.

darren salyer Tue 15 October 2013 06:44

Based on Petes link, I'd say he is correct. Looks like the logo that started in 1927.
I posted a pic on the Mustang group I frequent, and it was very well received.

My new friend Rex......I'll see if I can find him a home in a classroom somewhere.

Robert M Sat 02 November 2013 03:20

Nice rex....Darren !
I'd say leave him there.....a nice "watch" dog while your out :p

BTW...witch foam did you use for your FORD logo ?
Tks, Robert

darren salyer Sat 02 November 2013 07:25

Thanks Robert.
I picked the foam up from Menards. It is called Foamular 250.
Less than 30 bucks a sheet, just be sure to get the non scored sheet.
