Justin,
Awesome table, can you tell us a little more on how you cut it? |
Very carefully.
|
:D hahaha
Nice table! Is the skirt also solid wood? |
Little bit of v carving would have spiced it up !
I think plain is beautiful too! |
Justin,
Nice job. That material looks like oak? We need more details...... |
Justin and Robert,
WOW, very nice work on both projects. (Robert's project was removed) I need to get busy. :) |
Justin,
Beautiful piece of furniture. The lines and style make for a very elegant table. Congratulations! When I first looked at the photo I thought the wood was mahogany, but I'm not great at identifying wood species. Best regards, Jeff A |
Wood ??? I thought it was MDF ??
|
I assumed it is solid, and hence the title I picked for the thread - Justin didn't write the title.
|
Looks too good for mdf to my eyes. :)
|
Congrats Justin, on a great table!
|
Justin, I like the design, very nice. I was thinking solid cherry.

Ok now we know it's REAL wood, but how did you do the skirt. Steam bending or cutting slots on the backside to get it to curve.
|
Paper back veneer and contact cement on a layered mdf substraight cut with my Mechmate.
|
Ah, so Kobus's hunch was right. Is there any solid cherry in there at all?
|
Nothing wrong with that, still looking good, just don't chip a corner. REAL wood will take more punches than this combination. I have never tried to VENEER parts like this. Is it difficult to do at home ?
|
Pain in the .... to do.
|
Just the skirt is veneer everything else is solid.
