The Build is the BOSS!! #132 - Vernon BC, Canada

Hello, my name is Mike and I am looking for people that have built or are building a mechmate that live close to me to share ideas or to bounce things off of. I live in Vernon, British Columbia Canada.

Mike - Welcome to the forum. We are a global group so we welcome your questions and thoughts. Many topics are covered well in the current forum sections, so start researching and planning. We are looking forward to your build !!!

Can any one tell me why to use the 4 to 1 reduction drive vs direct drive.......will it run slower but have more torque.

bradm Wed 30 November 2011 20:03

Mike, it will run slower, have more torque, smoother movement, and greater accuracy. Since there is an upper limit on practical speed based on the tool (bit size, type, spindle speed, spindle HP), it is a net win - the machine works better and can cut more material faster.

Cool! thanks Brad......sounds like a no brainer......looks like i will be ordering some stuff from "MetalHead Mike"

Press the "Go Advanced" button below the Message box.

Then press the "Manage Attachments" box.

Remember that pics need to be small to upload them, so a max of 650x650 on Jpgs.

2 inch square aluminum tubing with half inch spacing for clamping and waste material to fall through......with nylon spacers, and held on by stainless teck screws from the under side......kind of a expensive deck but it looks cool!

Hey, Mike. When I tried that link, I do not have permissions to the file. You may try Vimeo to upload your videos to and to then share links. It is free, with a limitation on the size of video you upload per week. Oh, and don't worry, I understand the 8 year timeframe! ;)

Mike,

Congratulations on your progress. You're cutting, you've got paint. All you need is to add MechMate logos and you're ready for a Serial Number.

By the way, you can also paste a LINK directly to your Post. Just "highlight the text" you want users to click, select the LINK Icon (World with a paper clip) and paste your link. Like this Link to Mike's MechMate cutting foam.

mike nelson Wed 31 July 2019 08:27

Thanks John, i will get some logos made soon .....I will try linking that way next time i do a video. By the way is there a vector file for the logo in this forum?

mike nelson Wed 31 July 2019 08:50

Found the logo file!......just had to look for it. lol

xraydude Wed 31 July 2019 11:11

Mike, I had an extra set of logos cut when I ordered mine. If you want them, let me know and I will drop them in the mail.

Ted
